THE VOLUNTEER REFERRAL SERVICE

 

The UPLIFT Community Foundation recognizes that a volunteer is the heartbeat of Community Service. Community service is derived from the word Philanthropy, which is the Greek word that means love for mankind. Philanthropy also addresses the contributions of giving of oneself. Without volunteers, communities could not reach their goals and objectives of alleviating poverty, enhancing educational opportunities, promotion of health and other purposes that benefit the community. Foundations and other community Organizations have needs for volunteers to serve at homeless shelters, as mentors for our youth, on Trustee and Advisory Boards, plan special events, assist with fundraising initiatives, facilitate educational forums and much more.

 

Since one of the UPLIFT Community foundation's functions is to promote philanthropy throughout our communities, the foundation has added a Volunteer Referral Service to it many initiatives. This service allows UPLIFT to refer volunteers to other Nonprofit community organizations located through out the United States with a special emphasis on community needs within the Metropolitan Washington Area.

 

The UPLIFT Community Foundation Seeks Volunteers

 

As a nonprofit community organization, the UPLIFT Community Foundation depends largely on its volunteers. The Foundation is always seeking volunteers to assist with the planning and implementation of its special events. It is now seeking volunteers to help with special events such as an Awards Dinner, Fashion show Luncheon/Dinner, Anniversary Campaign Receptions, Issue oriented Town meetings, Community Educational Forums, Concerts, Host Meet and Greet the President Receptions, clerical support, writing and editing News Releases, Public Service Announcements, Newsletter, brochures, etc. The foundation also add additional events from time to time.

 

The UPLIFT Community Foundation receives a large portion of its revenue and other resources from the direct help of its volunteers. The revenue raised from their efforts is used to fund the many initiatives sponsored by the foundation. Volunteers form vital aspects of the UPLIFT family. Without your support, the UPLIFT Community Foundation could not exist. Each year, in appreciation for your dedication and support, we recognize the valuable contributions of our volunteer staff by featuring our Volunteer of the year on our Web Site. The foundation also host Annual Awards Volunteer Appreciation luncheons and receptions and give them special awards for their service to the Community through UPLIFT .
