Non-profit Organization Holds Awards Luncheon To Pay Tribute To Unsung Community Service Leaders

Washington, D.C. - The Uplift Community Foundation, Inc., a non-profit, non-partisan, volunteer-driven community organization which provides opportunities designed to help improve the socio-economic status of diverse communities, will hold its “2010” Awards Luncheon on Saturday, October 23, 2010 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Washington Navy Yard Catering and Conference Center in the Washington/Anacostia/Commodore Room which is located at 1454 Parsons Avenue, S.E. in Washington, D.C.

 

Mr. Sam Ford, Reporter for WJLA/ABC-7 News, will serve as Masters of Ceremonies, and the guest speaker will be Dr. Michelle Washington, a noted psychologist. Dr. Washington will speak on the topic and theme of the luncheon, “Education: The Stairway To Opportunity”.

 

This event is being held to pay tribute to Unsung Community Service Leaders who have made notable contributions to community service and have gone that extra mile to make an impact on our diverse communities. The proceeds will go towards raising funds for the foundation’s programs and scholarship fund.

 

The Uplift Community, Inc. provides educational programs which are designed to combat some of the many ills that plague our communities.  It also provides scholarships and grants to high school and college students who are in financial need.
