About the Uplift Unsung Community Leadership Awards: Now Accepting Nominations
The Uplift Community Foundation, Inc. "2010" Awards Luncheon, being held on Saturday, October 23, 2010, will be honoring and recognizing individuals of humanitarianism, unsung community heroism, vision, and leadership for individuals who work in the communities of the Greater Washington Area and give of themselves beyond the call of duty. These honorees, who live and work in our communities, would normally go unrecognized, but continue to give back to their communities never the less. This event will mark the Foundation's first annual Uplift Community Foundation "2010" Awards Luncheon that will focus primarily on recognizing "unsung heroes" who challenge their community leadership in a variety of roles and across multiple sectors - as volunteers, faith leaders, activists, students, nonprofit staff or executives, public sector officials or business persons. Recipients are extraordinary people of all ages with compelling stories of courage and commitment with little, if any, reward or recognition. We are looking forward to our nominees to come from the communities they serve. Each recipient receives an awards plaque that they can display with pride and say with great confidence that their work, not only has had an impact on their communities, but is also recognized by their peers and will be show cased on Uplift's Network, which is made up of three or more online web sites. In addition to inspiring others to lead, recipients will receive increased recognition and support from others and recognition from local media outlets and as far as electronic media can take them.
Awards Recipients: · Will receive widespread publicity through local News Media · Recognition of the impact within the Philanthropy communities and beyond Will encourage new volunteers to join forces and enhance community service for much needed causes
