Michelle A. Washington, Ph.D. Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Coordinator Wilmington Veterans Affairs Medical Center Member of the President’s Advisory Cabinet
Michelle A. Washington, Ph.D. is currently the Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Coordinator for the Wilmington Veterans Affairs Medical Center, in Wilmington, Delaware where she is responsible for the management, coordination, and provision of psychological services for veterans and active duty military personnel. Prior to this position she worked as the Director of Psychology Services at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Washington, D.C. In addition, she has worked extensively in the areas of co-occurring disorder (substance abuse and mental health), mental retardation/developmental disabilities, cognitive-behavioral interventions, and forensic psychology. She also has a private mental health practice providing psychological testing, psychotherapy, consultation and workshops/seminars. In addition, she has written numerous publications. Born in Niagara Falls, New York, Dr. Washington attended New York State University in Buffalo graduating with a B.A. in Psychology. She then went on to attend Texas A&M University and graduated with an M.S. and Ph.D. in Psychology.
